Team GB swimming sensation Rebecca Adlington celebrated her double bronze win by hitting the town with fellow Olympians as the London 2012 swimming contests drew to a close. The youngsters descended on The Last Lap party at Chinawhite as the swimming competitions drew to a close last night. Rubbing shoulders with fellow swimming champs from around the world, Adlington was sure to have enjoyed her night as she partied away with family and friends. Accessorising with a gold disc bracelet and diamante drop earrings, she certainly looked the part for the night. South African gold medal star Chad Le Clos was also at the swimming finale party and he certainly seemed to be enjoying his break from the pool. His shocking victory over US swimming sensation Michael Phelps in the 200-metre butterfly event is sure to put a smile on his face for weeks to come. It was a mix of Hennessy Paradis Imperial Cognac, Luxur 24ct gold-leaf champagne and a handmade set of 18ct gold rings at the bottom of the glass. Womens heart health is a subject that should be on the tip of everyone?s tongue, but for some reason not too many people seem to be talking about it. Unlike other womens issues that have people mobilized and raising awareness, when it comes to the heart there doesn?t seem to be too many people championing the cause. It seems as though I can?t drive anywhere without seeing a car with a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon magnet attached to it, but where are the magnets for heart problems.

You?d think that there would be tons of soccer moms concerned with womens heart health, especially given the fact that heart disease is the number one cause of death today for American women. I?m constantly hearing about how men die of heart attacks, but more women than men die every year in the United States of cardiovascular disease. Additionally, 23 percent of women over the age of 40 who have heart attacks die within a year. When you compare that to the 18 percent of their male counterparts, it?s hard to understand why this isn?t more of a women?s issue. Where are all of the specials on Oprah? Where are the races for cures?

Even scarier, 64 percent of women who have heart attacks and die suddenly have had no previous symptoms. It?s truly a silent killer, striking otherwise healthy people when they least expect it. Also, after the age of 40 the lifetime risk for cardiovascular disease is more than 50 percent in women. The worst part is that diagnostic tests and procedures that work well for men don?t work as well in women. This is particularly true of ECG tests, which is also known as the exercise stress test. All in all, more people need to be aware of womens heart health.

Gambling Complex Developer Encouraged by Vote - IPIP Blog

Much to everyones surprise, Gwinnett County Republicans voted a slight majority in favor of the casino gambling question on the July 31 GOP Primary ballot.

The question: Should Georgia have casino gambling with funds going to education? received a 50.2 percent yes vote, while 49.7 percent said no.

While the question is non-binding and were merely advisory, it could impact a proposed $1-billion gambling facility in Gwinnett County, particularly unincorporated Norcross. Developer Dan OLeary believed the question is flawed, especially when compared to the question on the Democratic ballot: Would you support casino gambling in Gwinnett County?

Now that the votes were more in favor than expected, OLeary sent out a hopeful statement.

The people have spoken, he said in a press release. They reject government solutions that simply raise taxes to fund their operations. It?s time to think creatively about solutions.

OLearys proposed destination gaming facility would have video lottery terminals in an almost resort-like complex, which would include a hotel, restaurants, retail and more. In order for OLeary to move forward with construction, he needs the approval to operate the video lottery terminals at the facility.

His proposal was essentially shot down at the Georgia Lottery Board meeting in April where he presented his plan. Now that the voters have shown a slight majority in favor, things are looking up for OLearys plan.

I trust this strong support by the people of Georgia will encourage the Lottery Board to move forward now with its mission of maximizing revenue for the HOPE scholarship, OLeary said.

Sudan, South Sudan must strike 'compromise' deal: Clinton

The two Sudans must strike an urgent compromise deal to end bitter disputes and resume oil production, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday, warning the newly separated nations that they "remain inextricably linked."

Sudan and South Sudan "will need to compromise to close the remaining gaps between them," Clinton said, after meeting South Sudan's President Salva Kiir.

"It is urgent that both sides, north and south, follow through and reach timely agreements on all outstanding issues, including oil revenue sharing, security, citizenship and border demarcation," she added.

Clinton, the most senior US official to visit since South Sudan's independence last year, highlighted Washington's concern over the bitter dispute between Juba and Khartoum.

South Sudan's government has yet to agree on a raft of issues with Sudan, left unresolved after they split in July 2011, including border demarcation and contested areas in oil-rich regions.

Long running African Union-led talks in the Ethiopian capital have so far failed to produce a deal, with Khartoum rejecting Juba's offers and demanding that border security must be ensured before any economic accord.

The UN Security Council had given the two countries, which earlier this year came close to a return to all-out war, until Thursday to reach a deal or face sanctions.

At independence, landlocked South Sudan took with it two-thirds of the region's oil, but the pipelines and processing facilities remained in Sudan.

In January, Juba cut off all oil production, even though oil provides some 98% of its revenue, crippling the economies of both countries, after accusing Khartoum of stealing its crude.

"You have made your point, you have brought Sudan to the negotiating table," Clinton said, standing alongside Foreign Minister Nhial Deng Nhial, stressing the importance of getting the oil to start "pumping again."

"An interim agreement with Sudan over oil production and transit can help address the short-term needs of the people of South Sudan, while giving you the resources and the time to explore longer-term options."

Clinton warned that "significant challenges" face the world's youngest nation, with "persistent poverty in a land rich with natural resources."

Those include "continued violence along the border with Sudan, unresolved ethnic tensions, gaps in infrastructure and the rule of law," she told reporters.

"Continued progress hinges on South Sudan's ability to overcome these challenges," Clinton added.

"While South Sudan and Sudan have become separate states, their fortunes remain inextricably linked," she said.

"The promise of prosperity rests on the prospects for peace. And South Sudan's ability to attract trade and investment depends on greater security on both sides of the border."

Clinton spent around three hours in the steamy heat of Juba -- a rapidly growing city largely made up of simple tin-roof huts strung out alongside the White Nile river -- before flying to Uganda.

"There must always come a point where we look forward and recognise the need to stop fighting over past wrongs so we can build toward a new future," she said.

"It's time ... to dig wells instead of graves," she added, quoting a South Sudanese bishop. "Time to reach an agreement that allows both countries to prosper."

Clinton's 11-day, seven-nation Africa tour is focused on the Obama administration's new Africa strategy of promoting development by stimulating economic growth while advancing peace and security and strengthening democracy.

Oil surges 4 percent on strong jobs growth

NEW YORK (AP) ? The price of oil is up about 4 percent after the government reported a surge in jobs growth last month.

Benchmark U.S. crude rose $3.57 to $90.70 per barrel in New York. Brent crude climbed $2.62, 2.5 percent, to $108.52 per barrel in London.

Prices jumped after the government said U.S. employers added 163,000 jobs in July. Last month's hiring was the best since February, though it wasn't enough to drive down the unemployment rate.

Prices for oil and gasoline tend to rise on signs of strength in the economy, which increases energy demand.

Retail gasoline prices rose 3.3 cents to a national average of $3.567 per gallon. Gasoline prices have jumped by about 24 cents per gallon since the beginning of July.

Russia mogul under pressure wants to sell assets

MOSCOW (AP) ? A Russian tycoon whose holdings include a newspaper critical of the Kremlin says he wants to sell his Russian assets because of pressure from the security services.

Forbes magazine has reported Alexander Lebedev's net worth at $1.1 billion.

He made his money in the banking industry and owns a stake in Russian flag carrier Aeroflot as well as his own Red Wings airline. He also finances Novaya Gazeta, which is fiercely critical of the Kremlin, and two British newspapers ? the Independent and the Evening Standard.

Lebedev said on his blog Friday that corruption investigations by Novaya Gazeta were the reason behind the Russian Federal Security Service's pressure on him.

But he declined to blame Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying he believed the Kremlin was not involved in attacking him.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) ? Ethel Kennedy says she didn't play matchmaker between a grandson and Taylor Swift but the Kennedys would be "lucky" to have the pop star in the family.

Kennedy is the subject of a new HBO documentary. She was asked Wednesday about reports that she set up the 22-year-old pop star 18-year-old Conor Kennedy. He's the grandson of Ethel Kennedy and the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy.

Ethel Kennedy told the Television Critics Association, "Certainly not." But the 84-year-old added, "We should be so lucky."

Ethel Kennedy's daughter, filmmaker Rory Kennedy, directed and produced the documentary "Ethel." It debuts Oct. 18 on HBO.

Rory Kennedy would confirm only one relationship involving Swift: The one Swift has with the Kennedy family.

Rory Kennedy said Swift is a "great friend of all of ours."
